All you wanted to know about Thermal paper?

If you are into a retail business, small or large, you would need thermal paper. It is the paper on which most receipts are printed. Thermal paper works by heat transfer. When the thermal printer is used, the printer head gets heated up. This heat travels down through the back of the printer ribbon and the ink on the ribbon then melts onto the thermal paper.

It may sound lengthy but the whole process is really quick and efficient. Within seconds, the thermal printer shoots out smooth and shinny receipts detailing customers’ purchases at the store.

Unlike regular printers, thermal printers don’t use ink. The ribbon contains wax which is usually a mixture of resin and wax. Retail business owners are able to enjoy good savings as they do not have to buy ink ribbons and rollers for using thermal paper and printers.

Thermal papers come in different sizes to suit varied applications and uses. Depending on whether the paper is required for printing credit card receipts or fax paper or POS transactions, you may choose the thermal paper ranging from 1 ½" to 4 9/32" in width.

It is advisable to buy high quality thermal paper as poor quality paper can leave residue on the printer head and ribbon and can cause your printer parts to wear out easily and quickly, leading to costly repairs.

Buy thermal paper from a reputable supplier that offers money back guaranty on their products. In case you get a low grade thermal roll, you can return it and can get a full refund of your money. Shop around to get a good deal on thermal cash register rolls and enjoy the cost savings that it promises to small businesses. Online sellers of printing supplies also house range of printer cartridge refills and cheap ink cartridges for your office requirements.

  1. Thanks for another excellent post. Thermal paper is a special fine paper that is coated with a chemical that changes color when exposed to heat. It is used in thermal printers and particularly in inexpensive or lightweight devices such as adding machines, cash registers, and credit card terminals. It is going to help me a lot because recently I have done a set up for my new business with the help of Discount Till Rolls Ltd, which gets me more customer satisfaction. I know one company, who provides the Thermal Paper Rolls.
