Changing Cartridge in a Laser Printer

Feel annoyed if the ink in laser printer cartridge runs out exactly when you need hard copies of several documents? Changing a cartridge however, does not take much time and effort if you are aware of the right procedure. Simply follow these guidelines:

  • Having identified problems with quality of printed pages and with a decision to resolve the toner problem, go to the printer Menu and choose the option to replace the toner.

  • The printer gives you multiple options and you can choose the cartridge that you need to replace. As you make the selection, the cartridge rotates to the front of the inside of the printer.

  • Next step is to open the printer’s cover. If you are doing this for the first time, you may have to check the instruction manual. Once you have managed to open the printer, just dislodge and remove the old cartridge.

  • Get the new compatible printer cartridge out of its box and gently shake it. Remember that laser printer cartridges are very sensitive to light and you would damage them if you let them stay in direct light for more than 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the protective tape that seals the cartridge and insert it in the printer. Do align it along the arrows marked within the space. You also need to push it down a bit to lock it in place.
  • With the cartridge firmly in place, the last step is to close the door of the printer.

To ensure that you have loaded the printer cartridge properly, do print a test page or two.
